I think most English carriers in Japan are useless for beginners.
If they can correct Japanese people's mouth movement and can teach them English grammar in Japanese effectively they are useful. But in many cases almost all of them are useless.
American or Canadian or Australian persons that is English carriers can speak English of course. So what? What kind of worth they have if they can't correct Japanese people's mouth movement? Or if they can't explain English grammer in Japanese in the condition that your students are begginers. Japanese people need correction not only being showed sample pronunciation.
Japanese people's mouth movement is already formed by Japanese language. So if you don't know Japanese mouth movement well it's impossible to change the movement already formed by Japanese language.
I know English carriers are worthy as carriers. I think this is true. If Japanese English teachers can utilize the carriers of English carriers are good.
You all are good for pre-begginers and advanced students. For beginners you are not worthy in the sense of learning a language.
Japanese government's stupidity has invited many English carriers as assistant teachers. Japanese educational department's stupidity is the origin of big sterility.
I know English carriers are good for pre-beginners as students can know English is a real language because a Japanese student is spoken to directly by the carrier. Till when one child is spoken to directly by an English speaking person he cannot know the language is real. How many English songs TV programs movies there may be they are not real language.
In this sense English carriers are good in primary schools. And one or two lessons in a week is enough for this purpose.
And also for advanced learners English carriers are very useful.
AETs should be sent to universities much more not to junior high or high schools.
When I got sober I got sorry for my making a bad attitude to you on this or that board. But this board is always open and you can refute my opinion any time.
I think open argument is important to English education in Japan nowadays.
What about writing your opinion here? I know you have a computer.
In the arguments in spoken language I'm always not so good at refutation to you because you speak speak speak and never stop. I want to welcome you here.
I agree with you in most of the points you wrote in English in recent posts.
Most of native English speakers who come to teach English in Japan are not entitled to be English language teachers. I think this phenomenon is largely due to Japanese people's worship for Western culture. I'm impressed by the fact that you wrote in English in public. You are an English language teacher. So you need more courage than ordinary people do.
